Tips and Tricks to Create the Perfect Nursery

Choosing a nursery theme and color scheme can be challenging and the clock is ticking before your new bundle of joy arrives. To help make this process easier, over the upcoming weeks we will provide different nursery themes and color schemes to help get the creative juices flowing.

To start you off, here are some tips and tricks to help you create the perfect nursery.

Tips and Tricks to Create the Perfect Nursery

Tip 1: Keep it Simple!

Children grow quickly so while that train wallpaper may be cute now- as soon as your baby turns 7 he will be insisting on its removal. Save yourself the backache and avoid any wall decor that is hard to change out.

Tip 2: Changing Tables

A changing table is very important and you will spend half of your time there for a few years, but what about the future? Rather than buying a changing table that you will sell or donate after only a few short years, purchase a dresser or chest of drawers of the correct height and place a changing pad on top. This will provide additional storage AND be able to transition with the child as they get older.

Tip 3: Bed Transitions

Cribs are small and obviously short lived, so instead of getting a standard crib and tossing it when your child moves to a 'big kid bed' get a crib that converts into a toddler bed and full sized bed. You do have to buy conversion kits for these beds--- BUT it is a lot cheaper than purchasing a whole separate bed and not so wasteful. It might also be beneficial to purchase the conversion kits at the same time as the crib so you do not have to worry about the bed being discontinued or out of stock in the future.

Tip 4: Nightlight with a Scent

Nightlights are very useful for midnight diaper changes and feedings, but you may want to consider getting a night light with a scent for when the diaper is full of unsavory things. A light air freshener will help clear the air.

Stay tuned in the coming weeks for a variety of nursery themes and accompanying color schemes.
