Favorite Decor Item of the Week: Door Knobs

There is a special place in my heart for old houses, barns, and antiques- and I love finding ways to incorporate a bit of yesteryear into my home. Antique doorknobs are beautiful and can be really intricate pieces of art. Here are some ways they can be incorporated into a home and lend a little flair to your home decor.

Towel Hooks

The great thing about antique door knobs is many of them have a plate with them so installing them on a wall as a towel hook is really easy- just screw the plate screws into the wall. I used old brass knobs for my bathroom, but you can find some really pretty glass knobs in a variety of colors online.

Coat Racks

Door knobs can be used for coat racks as well-- mixing and matching knobs creates a nice conversation piece.

Drawer Pulls

Updating hardware on furniture with doorknobs can be interesting.

Curtain Hooks

Doorknobs can be used to hold back drapes and curtains.

Picture Hooks

Rather than sticking a nail in your wall you can use a small doorknob to hang pictures. You can use a metal screw with the end cut off to install the knob. Drill a hole in the wall the proper size to fit the screw, screw in the screw partially into the wall and then screw the knob onto the portion sticking out of the wall.
