Favorite Interior Design Trends: Window Pane Shower Glass
I HATE shower glass.
I know, it looks so clean and upscale and way better than a shower curtain. BUT it also is boring,
doesn’t offer any pretty dimension or color, AND is a lot more difficult to clean than a shower curtain that I can toss in the washing machine.
When I was planning the design for our Master Bathroom Renovation (why yes that the image on this page is of my lovely bathroom) I spent quite a bit of time searching for interesting shower glass and fell in love with the Window Pane Shower Glass look.
Of course my husband and I soon discovered there are limited companies offering Window Pane Shower Glasses and there are a few ways it can be done. We also discovered that it does carry a bit of an expense with it so if you want to take the plunge be ready to fork over some money.
Options Available:
Coastal Shower Doors: Coastal has the panes in between the layers of glass so it gives you a nice authentic look. The glass is BEAUTIFUL, but you only have the oil rubbed bronze color to choose from, and it is all custom orders and will take 6-8 weeks to receive your order. So make sure you order ahead of time. Install is also not included so you will need to have a company come out and install.
Dreamline Showers: Dreamline showers offers window pane shower glass with a similar look to Coastals, but has only 1 glass wall size available- no doors available and no custom orders.
Holcam Shower Glass: This company takes a little bit of a different approach. They actually do digital printing on the glass. The benefit is you can get a completely custom order- the color, shape etc. can all be customized. The negative is it won’t look as much like a genuine window since the pane is not internal.
AAA Kartak Glass and Closet: This is where we ended up getting our glass. Window Pane Shower Glass was actually a first for them. My husband drove down to their store and provided a sketch and dimensions of what we wanted (ok what I wanted-- he tried to fight the whole thing, but realized I was not giving up on my window panes). This company figured out a way to get the look by installing single panes of shower glass. It took only 2 weeks from measuring to install. This install took about 6 hours- and was included in the price.
This up and coming design trend is definitely something I had to bring into my own home.
